Paint in the Dark Cardiff is coming to ignite your imagination with a neon-lit workshop perfect for an after-work or weekend activity. After enormous success in cities worldwide, including London, Berlin, and Paris, the retro-futuristic take on sip and paint events will be setting District aglow. And when we say “aglow”, we mean brilliant neon lights, floor-to-ceiling fluorescent ambiance, and the sound of a great playlist to stir your originality.
The first dates are taking place in March. District, a vibrant hub for electronic music and dance located in the heart of Cardiff, provides the right atmosphere for this laid-back and fun-filled experience. Its urban edge will help propel your imaginative flow! And with only a small number of reservations available, ask yourself if you’re ready to unleash your inner Picasso or Pollock.
What is Paint in the Dark?
Paint in the Dark is an adults-only event designed to give attendees the chance to go outside the lines. While there will be an artist on hand to guide you, with emphasis on the word “guide”, the workshop encourages you to set your creative instincts free and produce a unique piece. During the workshop, you’ll experiment with both classic and fluorescent paint, and you’ll have one drink (beer, wine, or soft drinks) included in your ticket.

The experience lasts 90 minutes and tends to be scheduled on weekends more often than weekdays. That being said, it can make for a fantastic plan with your workmates during the week as little prep is involved—don your least favourite or overused ensemble to the workshop where all the painting materials will be provided. After trying a few techniques and nurturing your artistic talent using different styles, you can feel free to take your creation home with you and display it proudly.
Who is PITD for?
There is no exam. Paint in the Dark isn’t seeking out professional artists. Everyone is welcome to express their creative side. Painting in the dark is a quirky way to spend time with friends, bond with your teammates from work, or is even a unique plan for date night. Why would you want to spend an hour and a half painting under a black light? Well, because it’s fun! It’s also something different— instead of gravitating towards happy hour at your local spot, paint a serene sunset or an abstract explosion of colors and shapes in the company of some of your favourite people.
