Founded by the Gulf Coast Symphony (GCS), the Music & Arts Community Center (MACC) has seen the legend of Camelot performed in its theater space, Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale retold with live music and narration, and regularly treats fans to jazz concerts as part of the Jazz at the MACC series. When it’s not filled with audiences, the center offers free after-school music lessons through the MusicWorks! program, a visual arts program through ArtsWorks!, and opportunities for retirees to play in the New Horizons Band.
Why is the Music & Arts Community Center so welcoming?
As a vibrant cultural hub with a diverse range of programs accessible to the community, the MACC is committed to inspiring people of all ages. It also plays a key role in supporting disadvantaged youths and promoting the importance of arts education. The MACC organizes music camps, extends the reach of music by bringing the Gulf Coast Symphony to other venues, and continues to entertain audiences at its intimate theater with shows that spotlight emerging artists.
What can you do at the Music & Arts Community Center?
You can stay up to date on the MACC’s upcoming shows by exploring its Sunday Chamber Music Series, Musical Theatre Series, and Jazz at the MACC Series, as well as enjoying performances by the Gulf Coast Symphony. The MACC shares its space with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers, making it not only a cultural venue but also a place of worship.
For an evening illuminated by thousands of candles, music lovers won’t want to miss Candlelight concerts, an international series that features tributes to some of the best music, from Queen’s rock hits to Bad Bunny’s reggaeton beats.
