From dressing up like creepy zombies, witches and ghouls to watching Hocus Pocus, the wonderful holiday allows us to connect with out dark side, which we can’t always do in our positivity-focused society. And luckily, Candlelight is making the season even spookier, bringing iconic Halloween songs and eerie soundtracks to Grand Rapids and giving them a classical makeover.
Think the haunting melodies of “Funeral March of a Marionette” by Charles Gounod or the themes from Stranger Things, The Exorcist and Psycho. They’re immediately recognizable, because they make the hairs on the back of our necks stand up, and yet beautifully composed to evoke emotions of uneasiness and terror. Taking place at the historic and progressive Fountain Street Church, listen to these Halloween classics in a creepy setting, as you’re surrounded by hundreds of gleaming candles.

Prepare to enter a world of horror and mystery as you hear the chilling melodies of “Tubular Bells” from The Exorcist and the spooky tunes of The Addams Family theme and Ghostbusters theme.
“They’re altogether ooky” and they’re all coming to haunt the historic and non-denominational Fountain Street Church this Halloween. Performed by the talented musicians of KalHaven String Quartet, get ready to be enchanted (and maybe also frightened) as you sit amid a sea of twinkling candles.
The mesmerizing Candlelight Halloween special has received great success in cities all over the world with its unique take on iconic Halloween songs. This season, it’s bringing its signature sea of candles and beloved spooky season melodies to Grand Rapids with a special concert that promises to enchant horror fanatics and music lovers alike.
There are two performances scheduled, at 6:00pm and 8:30pm and the concert typically lasts 65 minutes. Doors will open 45 minutes prior to the start time, giving you plenty of time to snap a few pictures of the stunning location and find your seats.
