New Orleans sits at the root of this setlist, where swing, blues feeling, and parade-born rhythm meet the looseness of improvisation. The music draws on the city’s early jazz language and the artists who gave it shape, with echoes of Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, and the brass-band spirit that carried into standards such as “When the Saints Go Marching In.” The phrasing keeps the tradition open, warm, and in motion.
What Is The Jazz Room?
The Jazz Room is a live, one-set jazz experience built around a single musical theme, performed over the course of 60 minutes by musicians working closely with style, phrasing, and improvisation at the centre. Each edition focuses on a distinct world, whether that means a route through New Orleans tradition, a tribute to a defining artist, or a set shaped by standards and swing. The result is something concise and immersive: a listening room atmosphere where the material has direction, but the performance still breathes.
In Hamilton, that balance is what lingers—the warmth of the room, the grain of brass and piano, the concentration that settles between phrases and then lifts with the next chorus. The Jazz Room leaves space for the audience to meet the music where it is: shared, unfolding, and fully alive.
Taking place at The Westdale, there will be two sessions available on each date, at 4:30pm and 7:00pm. Tickets are sold in tiers and seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
