Curious about what it would feel like to step inside a kaleidoscope? How about experiencing the splendour of all four seasons in only half an hour? Well, Enlightenment can deliver just that. The immersive light show has already bewitched numerous countries around the world with its breathtaking 360-degree projections and classic melodies, and now it is Malmö’s turn to fall under its hypnotic spell as the show has officially opened its doors in the heart of the city. Unfolding in the striking Art Nouveau interiors of Spegelsalen, this experience promises an enchanting evening where the world around you is transformed into a spectacle of light, sound and colour.

What can you expect at the Enlightenment light show?
It’s not every day you can gaze up as giant snowflakes unfurl over an intricate coffered ceiling, see a cascade of psychedelic flowers tumble down gilded pillars and hold your breath as a fiery orb spikes the corners of the room with coppery rays of light. In fact, at Enlightenment, this all happens in the space of just 30 minutes, while you simply sit back and relax.
The hypnotic visuals fit the Spegelsalen aka ‘Hall of Mirrors’ perfectly, all a result of extensive video mapping which measure out every inch and feature of the interiors. This technological wizardry makes for a magical display, warping reality as your surroundings transform into a colourful reflection of autumn, winter, summer and spring.
Accompanying these giant projections are the familiar music of Antonio Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’. His powerful Baroque music captures the seasons with fevered violins which mimic birdsong, crashing crescendos similar to thunder and slower melodies which conjure up the hazy, languid heat of summer.

The Italian composer’s expressive concerti, paired with the vibrant light show, ensures a memorable experience for all ages. Whether it’s unwinding after a hectic work week, enjoying a romantic escape for the evening or discovering a new way to enjoy a classical piece of much-loved music, Enlightenment should be top of your list for things to do in Malmo this autumn.
