What is We call it Ballet
We call it Ballet celebrates ballet in its traditional form—from the technical discipline to the artistic expression—while incorporating fibre optic technology that adds a visual component to the performance. Dancers move across the stage in costumes fitted with programmable lights that complement their movements, creating patterns that extend beyond their physical presence. The result is a ballet performance with an added visual layer where movement, music, and light work together to create the overall experience.
Ballet, its storytelling and the show
For centuries, ballet has communicated stories through the language of movement, where gestures carry meaning and sequences advance the narrative. We call it Ballet continues this tradition by presenting excerpts from the classical repertoire, including the beloved Sleeping Beauty. This fairy tale ballet tells the story of Princess Aurora, who falls victim to the vengeful fairy Carabosse’s curse, only to be saved by the Lilac Fairy’s intervention and ultimately awakened by Prince Désiré’s kiss.
The distinctive aspect of the production is how the fibre optic-enhanced costumes work with the choreography to highlight dramatic moments and emotional changes. The costumes display different colours that align with the changing moods and dramatic tensions within the story, complementing the musical dynamics. This technological addition serves to support the storytelling, creating visual cues that guide the audience through the emotional aspects of the ballet. With a running time of 60 minutes, the performance is carefully crafted to maintain engagement while delivering a complete artistic experience.
This breathtaking tribute to the timeless tradition of ballet invites audiences into a world of grace, music, and magic at Moriska Paviljongen. Featuring elegant choreography, glittering fibre-optic costumes, and enchanting storytelling, this 60-minute performance reimagines beloved tales on selected dates. With seats assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each section, arrive early and prepare to fall in love with ballet all over again.
