A theatrical dining experience is coming to Newport News, inviting you to indulge in a four-course feast inspired by Poe’s most haunting tales. Guided by Poe historians and Gothic chefs, The Edgar Allan Poe Dinner Theater artfully combines atmospheric storytelling and fine dining.
The immersive dinner theater will only be open at the Historic Boxwood Inn on Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25. Attendees can anticipate delicious themed dishes as they listen to retellings of some of Poe’s most harrowing tales. Grab tickets today while they last!

Upon arrival, guests will be escorted to the dining hall to begin their themed four-course feast. Throughout the culinary journey, live storytelling performances will transport you into Poe’s powerful imagination. The carefully curated menu features the following:
🫀 Course 1: The Tell-Tale Heart, Spinach and artichoke “Heart” and Cheese Bread
⚰️ Course 2: The Premature Burial, “Entombed” Black Garlic & Porcini Mushroom Soup
🐦⬛ Course 3: The Raven, Midnight Grilled Chicken with Blackberry-Port Reduction
💛 Course 4: The Gold Bug, Golden Raspberry Chocolate Mousse
The Historic Boxwood Inn, located in the Lee Hall area, is the perfect upscale backdrop for this evening of Gothic elegance. Attendees are encouraged to don their most lavish dinner attire – the darker and more mysterious, the better.

Tickets to The Edgar Allan Poe Dinner Theater start at $65 and are available to guests ages 18 and above. Fittingly, the events will take place during spooky season, October 24 and 25, at the Historic Boxwood Inn.
Each course within four-part dinner is included with the purchase of a ticket. Attendees ages 21 and over may order alcoholic beverages onsite at an additional cost.
