These Glowing Candlelight Concerts In Oslo Are Getting Glowing Reviews And Here’s Why

Candlelight concertgoers leave a review out of five star after every show. These reviews are available on the Candlelight marketplace, and attendees usually cite the ambience, the musicians and the programme as some of the factors for giving the concerts five stars.

A Candlelight concert isn’t your typical live music experience. Upon entering a venue, most likely famous for its architecture, history, or combination of both, guests will be greeted by the welcoming glow of candles. Performances around the world have taken place at cathedrals, government buildings, concert halls, theatres, and many other noteworthy spaces. In Olso, historic spaces like Universitetets Aula quite literally light up thanks to Candlelight.

These spellbinding shows celebrate some of the greatest composers of all time, from Antonio Vivaldi to Johann Sebastian Bach. Whether you’re falling under the spell of Vivaldi’s four-part masterpiece, The Four Seasons, or hearing Mozart’s Moonlight Sonata brought to life, nothing compares to the way the pieces bounce off the golden flicker of candlelight.

Another, more modern-day, reason to attend a Candlelight concert in Oslo is the variety of programmes to choose from. Not only does the popular concert series pay tribute to classical music, but it also puts a twist on genres like rock, pop, jazz, Bollywood, house music, and more. When selecting the right concert for your music taste, you can find performances inspired by contemporary artists like Coldplay, Adele and Ed Sheeran.

The enchanting concert series takes advantage of any excuse to celebrate. In February, Candlelight brings a series of super romantic tributes to our favourite love songs for Valentine’s Day. When Halloween arrives, a spooky evening dedicated to scary songs haunts the city, while festive joy comes in December wrapped as a candlelit tribute to the Christmas hits of the season.

No matter the ensemble, like a string quartet or jazz band, or even a solo pianist or singer, the performers leading these captivating Candlelight concerts are highly skilled and extremely professional. They possess the power to put a classical spin on synth-pop tracks, bring famous fairy tales like those of Tchaikovsky’s ballets to life with grace, and more.

As well as rediscovering your favourite songs, the Candlelight series likes to shake things up with a side of context. Instead of playing note after note, the musicians take breaks in between to share an interesting detail, fact, or anecdote about the music you’re hearing. We like to think this adds something extra special to the performance. It also leaves you with some fascinating things to share at your next dinner party.
