Well, We call it Ballet is not your typical classical ballet performance because it combines traditional elements we all know and love, like classical choreography and captivating music, with LED lights and fiber optics sewn into the dancers’ costumes. This is meant to heighten the overall experience and make it more accessible to all audiences.
Ballet, its storytelling and the show
In a kingdom far far away, the cursed Princess Aurora falls into a deep sleep, her fate sealed by a single prick of a spindle. Although it seems that time seizes, a courageous prince guided by light and love, finds the story’s protagonist and breaks the spell with true love’s kiss. Aurora finally awakens and the world can rejoice with hope.
At We call it Ballet in St. Louis, the timeless tale of The Sleeping Beauty will receive a literal glow-up, as the ballerina costumes are adorned with countless LED lights that make every move more visible. Additionally, just like in every fable and fairy tale, the show also uses a narrator that intervenes in punctual moments to explain the storyline.
We call it Ballet is offering a sensational, new take on the Tchaikovsky classic. There are two back-to-back shows set to take place at the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater of the Touhill Performing Arts Center, at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Doors open 30 minutes before curtain so make sure to get there on time and find your seats.
